Boraatii Stool Color:Black Mondrian is an artist representedDesigner Jomo Tariku learned his craft while growing up in Ethiopia, during summer breaks at a local furniture builder in Addis Ababa. He later went on to study industrial design at the University of Kansas and is now based in Virginia. For this Boraatii Stool, Tariku was inspired by a headrest, carved from a single piece of wood by an Oromo artist, used in the late 19th century to preserve the elaborate hairstyle of its owner while they slept.
