The intense and tautly muscular middle weight plus flavors are even more refined if perhaps not quite as mineral-driven while delivering superb length on the balanced but markedly austere finish where a touch of cherry pit emerges

This isn't quite as deeply colored as the '95 Charmes (see herein) and the expressive nose is consistent with this as there is more evident maturity to the secondary fruit and earth aromas that display hints of sous-bois

It hits the palate with full bodied richness but not a bit of heaviness. Great precision, vibrant underlying acidity, and sweet, long tannins make this a sumptuous mouthful of wine with a finish of close to 45+ seconds.
