The engine cover was used to stop dirt and grime from getting on to the engine, but was also used to reduce engine noise. It is attached to the engine by using a spacer nut, which is mounted instead of a normal nut on the engine bolt near the shock absorber mount. Further mounting points are the screws of the fan wheel cover.
