I am now the caretaker of his memories and wanted to honor him – and all the workers of NCR – with this photo “triptych” (that’s a fancy way of saying all three images “go together”)

I used a strong backlight to reveal details within the rock and discovered colors that are not shown with surface only lighting

It amazes me how nature can look the same on vastly different scales

The area of the photo is at the end of my thumb – it is about ¼ inch in size

You can see it in the actual form my grandfather cut and polished it into elsewhere on our site. I also intentionally softened the focus (narrow depth of field) to create the flowing effect.
